I remember selling my first image. I’d recently been accepted at a stock agency and I’d been checking daily to see if I’d started raking in the cash. Finally, after days of waiting, and hitting the refresh button, a sale popped up. I think it was for about $115, minus a 40% commission from the agency and left me with a profit of about 70 dollars. I was thrilled. Now, years later, I’ve sold hundreds of images but I continue to feel that little thrill of excitement when I see new sales pop up in my account status. Today, for example, the image above sold to a German magazine. Not a big money-maker, but its the first time this particular image has sold. Others on the same site, listed for an equivalent length of time have sold 5 or 10 times, others, most others, have not sold once. At some point in the future, I’ll dive into this in more detail, but today, I’m just enjoying the thrill of a sale.
